Developing a Heart with Jesus

I remember when we asked Richard Foster to speak at our church. I was Minister of Christian Discipleship and our Committee had read Richard's new book on The Spiritual Disciplines with great excitement. We were deeply touched by his review of the traditional disciplines used by saints and pastors for some 2000 years and we wanted to hear him teach how we as a church could facilitate deeper relationships with Jesus and the Holy Spirit.

We were not disappointed. He taught, he shared his personal life and he encouraged us with stories from people like the Dessert Fathers whose devotion and connection with God made us all thirsty for something more ourselves.

Christianity Today published a short essay by Mr. Foster in their most recent electronic blog. It is well worth reading. I hope it inspires many of your to purchase his books and start a Spiritual Discipline Group with others who want something more in life.
