Dr Tiller's Killer

A very interesting post by a pro abortion writer can be found online at the National Post.

We have seen over 40,000,000 babies intentionally killed by abortion doctors since 1973. That is more than all the people killed by Hitler and all those killed by Stalin. Chairman Mao, of course, has the record of killing over 100,000,000 million Chinese.

But 40,000,000 people is a lot of men and women who would be working in American jobs, going to college and providing for their families. The western world of Europe and America are facing a critical shortage of people. Much of that shortage can be blamed on aggressive aborters and Left Wing Politicians.

But, don't worry, that will change because the vacuum of people in Europe and the USA are being replaced by Muslims, Latinos, Chinese and Indians. These people usually love their families and will not kill their offspring. So, the future will be led by Conservatives. Obama will be listed as a brutal dictator and George Bush will be considered a hero.

Dr. Tiller will be considered like Mengele.

Your title of this post is "Dr. Tiller's Killer". You don't mention his assasin, but do compare the Dr. to Mengele.
I take this inference to mean you advocate violence towards abortion doctors.
Am I correct?

Good question.

I thought it would be obvious from the post that I am PRO Life and reject killing of all persons unless in war and those found guilty of heinous crimes by the state. (Even then I am not so sure of the death penalty.)

Tiller's killer was and is a killer. Both are morally and ethically wrong but only Tiller's killer is legally wrong. Neither deserve the death penalty.

For many years Christian leaders debated the morality of killing Hitler. His evil deeds were heinous but to take the law into one's own hands is contrary to the biblical approach to life. At this point I could not agree with killing a person like Tiller.

Gary,

In the previous commment reply you stated:
"Tiller's killer was and is a killer. Both are morally and ethically wrong but only Tiller's killer is legally wrong. "

What do you mean by, "Both are morally and ethically wrong"? If you mean to draw moral equivalence between the murder (legal term?) of Dr Tiller and the scandal of the killing of innocents by abortion, I say, at least! Parsing that paragraph was gut wrenching for me, though. Might you expound on this a bit.

MANY BLESSINGS!

I am trying to point out that the laws of the USA allow killing of some people without prejudice. Just as it was legal in the USA to own slaves and even kill them, it was morally and ethically wrong to do so. It is legal to visit prostitutes in some places but it is still immoral.

Thus, both Tiller and his assassin were killers because they took a life or many lives. However, by the judgment of the Supreme Court, Tiller was not guilty under the law. He is guilty by God's law.

My statement is meant to be a very strong attack on legal abortion. I do not equate the enormity of 44 million abortions with one murder but one murder is still a murder.

Gary,

What you said! You know that is what I wanted to say, but would not have found the kind and gentle string of words you did. Thanks.

Some others who have weighed in on this in nearly as eloquent and gentle ways:

"Human rights are not a privilege conferred by government. They are every human being's entitlement by virtue of his humanity. The right to life does not depend, and must not be declared to be contingent, on the pleasure of anyone else, not even a parent or a sovereign." (Mother Teresa -- "Notable and Quotable," Wall Street Journal, 2/25/94, p. A14)

For man holds in his mortal hands the power to abolish all forms of human poverty and all forms of human life. And yet the same revolutionary beliefs for which our forebears fought are still at issue around the globe - the belief that the rights of man come not from the generosity of the state, but from the hand of God.

We dare not forget today that we are the heirs of that first revolution ... unwilling to witness or permit the slow undoing of those human rights to which this Nation has always been committed.

If a free society cannot help the many who are poor, it cannot save the few who are rich.

So let us begin anew - remembering on both sides that civility is not a sign of weakness, and sincerity is always subject to proof.

In the long history of the world, only a few generations have been granted the role of defending freedom in its hour of maximum danger. (John Fitzgerald Kennedy, January 20, 1961)

I think yours and their words in some ways speak directly to the unceasing need for all persons to defend the unborn and all human life from the tyranny of relativism which threatens to and does erode human liberty, is a brutal offense against the Truth (Jesus, the Incarnate Word), is the opposite of Love, and impoverishes all of God's Creation.

Proof of this is the statistic you quoted recently that 80% of downs syndrome babies are aborted.

Please forgive my strong demeanor.

MANY BLESSINGS!
Peace and All Good!
Michael
